“A strong impact starts in the right place”
Interview with Corina Salomon, Head of Community & Promotion Management, Wincasa. Temporary promotion and event spaces are playing an increasingly important role in the positioning and activation of real estate. At the same time, their marketing is often fragmented and resource-intensive. With the PromoPoint platform, Wincasa bundles such spaces across Switzerland and makes them digitally accessible. In this interview, Corina Salomon, Head of Community & Promotion Management, explains how the offering was developed, how it works and what added value it creates for owners, operators and users.
Corina Salomon, Wincasa is launching a new offering for promotion and advertising spaces with PromoPoint. What was the trigger for this initiative?
For years, we have observed a clear market need: on the one hand, there are attractive, high-footfall locations with untapped potential; on the other hand, brands, retailers and agencies are looking precisely for such spaces to create physical brand experiences. PromoPoint systematically brings supply and demand together – simply, transparently and across Switzerland.
What exactly is PromoPoint?
PromoPoint is a digital platform through which promotion, event and, in future, also traditional advertising spaces can be offered and booked throughout Switzerland. What makes it special is that spaces from different properties, sites and shopping centres are bundled across owners. Selection, booking and processing are handled entirely digitally.
Why does this require a dedicated platform?
Marketing spaces is fundamentally part of our day-to-day business. With PromoPoint, however, we have scaled this expertise and made it market-ready. We manage 86 centres and 32 sites across Switzerland and know which spaces are suitable for promotions, pop-ups or events. This knowledge has been transferred into a platform that simplifies processes and unlocks additional revenue potential.
What role does the activation of centres and sites play in this context?
A central one. Today, attractive properties are no longer defined solely by use and architecture, but by experiences. Temporary uses, promotions and events create dynamism, increase dwell time and strengthen the perception of a location. PromoPoint is therefore not only a marketing tool, but also an instrument for the targeted activation of spaces.
PromoPoint was initially tested. What did the pilot phase show?
Demand is clearly there. During the test phase, more than 400 bookings were already generated across Switzerland. This demonstrates strong interest from the tenant side – ranging from established brands and local providers to agencies. At the same time, owners appreciate the easy access to an additional source of income without administrative overhead.
PromoPoint is now officially launching on the market. Where does the offering stand today?
Currently, just under 40 properties with around 130 spaces are online. This forms a solid base that we are continuously expanding. At present, the focus is on promotion spaces, for example for brand activations, product launches or pop-up concepts. We are gradually extending the offering to include additional advertising formats such as screens, window branding or poster spaces.
Who decides which spaces are offered?
Always the owners, together with the respective centre or site management. They define which spaces are released and under what conditions. PromoPoint provides the platform, ensures transparency and handles the operational processes in collaboration with the on-site teams.
A key aspect is owner independence. What does this mean in practice?
PromoPoint is deliberately designed as an open platform. We include properties and spaces from all owners, regardless of whether they are managed by Wincasa or not. This clearly differentiates us from our competitors. Our ambition is a holistic, nationwide offering – independent of ownership structure or management model.
Who is PromoPoint aimed at?
Several target groups: owners can market their spaces through us. Retailers and brands find suitable promotion spaces, as do agencies. The platform creates transparency, reduces interfaces and significantly simplifies planning.
Everything runs digitally – is there still room for consulting?
Yes. The digital process forms the foundation. Going forward, we will also offer additional consulting services, for example for promotion concepts for clients without in-house expertise. A concrete example is food truck spaces: identifying these and making them easily bookable is a real added value for many.
How does PromoPoint fit into your role in Real Estate Community Management and Siedlungscoaching?
Very well. In both areas, it is about using spaces meaningfully, bringing people together and creating vibrant places. PromoPoint is an economic instrument with a strong experiential dimension. Temporary uses can foster community and positively activate a location – this is a core principle of our work at Wincasa.
Your conclusion: what does PromoPoint change in the market?
We are professionalising and simplifying a market that has so far been fragmented. PromoPoint makes the marketing of advertising spaces more transparent, more efficient and more accessible – nationwide, owner-independent and with a clear focus on activation and experience.
